If you don't hike but carry your tent in a vehicle, the change will not be noticed anywhere near as much, but you may still be grateful for the extra space. It is also suggested by some that dome tents are easier to erect, but that is not always the case.

A 1 man tent is obviously not going to be roomy, but the curved poles used in a modern dome tent do create a bit of extra room. This can be important if you are storing more than just sleeping bags and a few bits of bedding. Although the extra room can't really be used as storage unless you are able to stack things on top of each other, it is still useful breathing space.
